Duboka Draga is located in Vrsi and is part of Zadar Region on Croatia’s northern Dalmatian coastline. Vrsi is also the next town to Nin, a few kilometers away and has uninterrupted views Croatia’s highest mountain range, Velebit. To get there you’ll need to drive through a very cute and cobble stone town with many ancient ruins and tiny tight streets before having to slowly come down a pebbled one way path. Be careful to not pop a tyre here, as the path to paradise can be unpredictable!

There is certainly plenty to do and see in Zadar with impressive hints of fortresses from the past, a 9th century Church of St Donat and bell-tower you’re able to climb with uninterrupted views of the great Croatian coastline. Islands are just a short ferry trip away, it’s easy to experience the best of both worlds in Zadar. Vukovar is a symbol of Croatia’s homeland war and fight for independence. Vukovar is also the city I was born in 31 years ago. Anytime I tell a Croatian person that I was born in Vukovar, they immediately sigh and say, “how wonderful.” It is wonderful because it’s a precious city and one dear to every Croat’s heart.

It’s very easy for me to sell Croatia as a place to visit to someone who has never been. I already know after one day that they’ll fall in love and revisit again and again. Croatia becomes an obsession. For me, personally, having been here a few years now, I often feel like I’ve “seen it all” without literally seeing it all. Everything is at my feet in Croatia and that’s the beauty of living in this country...

Dinner at Pelegrini Restaurant ・Sibenik, Croatia

For my birthday, my other half and husband to-be whisked me away to Sibenik and took me to the restaurant I spent most of 2017 trying to get a table at, Pelegrini. I’m not the biggest fan of Sibenik, as beautiful as it may be, it’s always windy up at the fortress and it drives me crazy. Plus, there's a lot of stairs in the Old Town, me-no-like. One part of Sibenik has been on my radar for the past 12 months and it’s dining at Pelegrini.
